I make jewelry and wanted to get into metal stamping. I finally found some ABC stamps. I have looked everywhere and cannot find a metal soft enough to stamp into. I bought a sheet of flashing and some hollow punches. I have punched a few circles, which takes some time, and I seem to not have a problem with stamping into it, but I would like to find some that are either already cut or softer. Any suggestions on what type of metal to use and where to purchase softer metal? Thanks!
What you got seems fine.
What kind of metal should I use for stamping?
What metal do you use to make a magnetic dry-erase board?
My daughter wants to panel one of the walls of her room with a sheet of metal that she can put magnets on and write across with dry-erase markers.
What kind of metal should I use? It needs to be magnetic and the color of steel (silver). I’ve heard you need to use Galvanized steel, but I wasn’t sure.
Also, do you know where I could buy a sheet of the metal, not in bulk?
If you can’t find what you’re looking for to make her a dry-erase you could always use the magnetic paint under chalkboard paint. They have cool colors of chalkboard paint now at Home Depot. Even hot pink.
What metal or material will stay cold best after being in a freezer?
I am asking what metal or material will retain its coldness the longest after being kept in a standard home freezer. After being removed from the freezer, the metal will be subjected to a moderate heat source for 5-20 minutes. Is it a metal or something else, possibly ceramic? I am using this for a project.
Metal would not be suitable for your project since it is a conductor.
Ceramic is a good candidate since it is an insulator. Depending on how hot the ‘moderate heat source’ is, there are different materials to choose from. If it’s not very hot (below say 100degC), the you can try polystyrene (the stuff that makes cups that holds hot beverages) as it is an excellent thermal insulator – the thicker the better.
If the heat source is quite hot, then go for ceramic since ceramic can withstand high temperatures, just make sure that the change in temperature around the ceramic isn’t too sudden otherwise it may crack.
What metal should I use for a quarter pipe frame?
I am building a small quarterpipe for a shop class project. I am wondering what kind of metal would be the best to use for the frame work. I would use wood but our shop teacher will only let us use metal becuase I am not in the woodworking class. This is going to be outside too so any suggestions on the paint to waterproof it? Any suggestions on the type of metal to use?
aluminum or steel or any other light weight metals that are strong enough to support it. my suggestion is just to build a wooden frame.

METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
This isn’t really a question, but i wanted to say that metal is the best music ever and if you don’t listen to it you suck because you probably haven’t given it a chance so go to youtube and listen to some metallica because they are the best band ever
And I strongly disagree!! Metal is not the best music ever…It is the GREATEST music ever!!
Metal simply completes my life!!
In the matter of fact Metal is never going to fade away!!
NEVER!!
It’s gonna live on and on and on…FOREVER!!
As for Metallica…Well it is the GREATEST band on Earth…Which is also going to live on…unlike some bands like The JoBro…Who fall under the "teen pop" genre…Which is not a realistic genre!!
GO METAL!!
