I assume this would take one heck of a lot of hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is quite toxic, so how safe would the process be? What would be the potential environmental side effects of the process? Isn’t H2S a significant greenhouse gas all by itself? How would we produce enough hydrogen sulfide to make a dent in global warming this way?
Isn’t it time we required universal Federal licensing for use of Alka Seltzer, Fizzies, and Pop Rocks? Background verification, two week cooling off period, fingerprinting, mandatory fizz locks. No gas release in excess of one liter. No automatic unloading – no motorized or wind-up Pez dispensors!

If I am trying to determine the exact volume of hydrogen sulfide gas in a closed container though means of precipitation, obviously I should draw a sample of the gas mixture, but with what chemical should I react the hydrogen sulfide with to produce a precipitate that can be gravimetrically analyzed?
Mercuric acetate, Hg(C2H3O2)2(aq) + H2S(g) ===> HgS(s) + 2HC2H3O2(aq). HgS is one of the most water insoluble substances known. The Ksp is about 10^-50.
Copper Sulfide is formed when copper and sulfur are heated together. In this reaction, 127g of copper reacts with 41g of sulfur. After the raction is complete, 9g of sulfur remains unreacted. What is the mass of copper sulfide formed?
Atomic weights: Cu=63.5 S=32 CuS=95.5
Cu + S ===> CuS
Because 9g S is left over, Cu is used up first. That is the limiting reagent. So start with Cu first:
127gCu x 1molCu/63.5gCu x 1molCuS/1molCu x 95.5gCuS/1molCu = 191g CuS
I know the answer is 0, but I don’t know why? Can someone please explain why to me?
Is it because there are 6 electrons in the sulfide ion, thus there are 0 unpaired electrons?

[ For Titanium , 4s has lower energy than 3d ; So, the 19th and 20th electrons filled in 4s ( Paired ) and then 21st and 22nd electrons separately filled in two 3d orbitals ]
